A sacrifice is an offering made to God that costs the giver something significant. Sacrifice is a powerful key that can open doors that regular prayers might not be able to open. When you make a sacrifice that touches the heart of God, He will respond in a way that will amaze you.
In today's Bible reading, Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings to God. This was a massive sacrifice that had never been done before. God was so touched by this sacrifice that He appeared to Solomon that same night and asked him to ask for whatever he wanted. Solomon's sacrifice opened a door of unlimited blessings for him.
Sacrifice is not only about giving money or material things. You can also sacrifice your time, your energy, and even your comfort for the sake of God's kingdom. When you go out of your way to serve God and His people, you are making a sacrifice that God appreciates.
However, you must ensure that your sacrifice is made with the right heart. God does not accept a sacrifice that is made grudgingly or for the purpose of show-off. 2 Corinthians 9:7 says that God loves a cheerful giver. Your sacrifice must also be backed by a life of holiness. Proverbs 15:8 says, "The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight."
I pray that God will give you the grace to make sacrifices that will provoke His blessings in your life, in Jesus' name. As you learn to give your best to God, He will also give His best to you.
