Message

When God is your Teacher, you have access to wisdom that no university can provide. He is the author of all knowledge, and He knows the secrets of the universe. In today's Bible reading, we see that those who fear the Lord are the ones He chooses to teach. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear Him.

Divine teaching often comes through the Holy Spirit. Jesus called Him the Spirit of Truth who would guide us into all truth. He can teach you how to succeed in your business, how to raise your children, and how to handle difficult relationships. When you don't know what to do, don't panic—ask your Teacher.

To be taught by God, you must have a teachable spirit. A proud person cannot be taught because he thinks he knows it all. You must come to God with humility, acknowledging that His ways are higher than your ways. You must also be willing to obey what He teaches you. Obedience is the proof that you have truly learned the lesson.

God's classroom is the Word of God. As you study the scriptures, the Holy Spirit illuminates the verses and shows you how to apply them to your life. He gives you "rhema"—a specific word for your specific situation. This year, make a commitment to be a diligent student in God's school.

King James Version

Psalm 25:8-14

RCCG Hymn

When we walk with the Lord

  1. When we walk with the Lord, In the light of His word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will
    He abides with us still.
And with all who will trust and obey.

  2. Trust and obey!
    For there's no other way
    To be happy in Jesus,
    But to trust and obey.

  3. Not a shadow can rise.
Not a cloud in the skies.
    But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt nor a fear,
Not a sigh nor a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
  4. Not a burden we bear.
    Not a sorrow we share
    But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief nor a loss,
Not a frown nor a cross.
But is blest if we trust and obey
  5. But we never can prove
    The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay.
    For the favour He shows
    And the joy He bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey.
  6. Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet.
Or we'll walk by His side in the way.
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go.
Never fear, only trust and obey.
