    Voice of joy that cannot die,
    Alleluia is the anttiem
    Ever dear to choirs on high,
    In the house of God abiding
    Thus they sing eternally.

    Thou may'st lift the joyful strain,
    Alleluia songs of triumph
    Well beht the ransom'd train
    Faint and feeble are our praises
    di While in exile we remain.

    Make us for a while forego;
