THE DANGER OF COMPROMISE

Memorise:
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, .. 2 Corinthians 6:17

Read:
Daniel 1:8-16

Message

We live in a world that encourages compromise. People are told to "go with the flow" and to do whatever feels right, even if it contradicts the Word of God. But for a child of God, compromise is a dangerous trap that leads to spiritual decline and eventual destruction. Compromise is the gradual softening of your convictions.

Compromise often starts in small, seemingly insignificant areas. It starts with a little lie, a small act of dishonesty, or a slight indulgence in worldly entertainment. Before you know it, your spiritual sensitivity is dulled, and you find yourself doing things you never thought you would do. Like Samson, you may not even realize that the Spirit of the Lord has departed from you.

The enemy uses compromise to steal your testimony and rob you of your authority. When you compromise your standards, you lose the boldness to stand for Christ. You become a "lukewarm" Christian, and Jesus said He would spue such people out of His mouth. God is looking for people who are uncompromising in their pursuit of holiness.

To avoid compromise, you must have a firm foundation in the Word of God. You must decide beforehand what your boundaries are and refuse to cross them, no matter the pressure. Surround yourself with godly people who will encourage you to stay the course. Remember that the favor of God is far more valuable than the approval of men.

Yield Not To Temptation

A little compromise today leads to a great fall tomorrow.

RCCG Hymn

Yield not to temptation

  1. Yield not to temptation.
    For yielding is sin;
    Each victory will help you
    Some other to win;
    Fight manfully onward.
    Dark passions subdue;
    Look ever to Jesus,
    He'll carry you through.

  2. Ask the Saviour to help you
    Comfort, strengthen, and keep you;
    He is willing to aid you,
    He will carry you through.

  3. Shun evil companions.
    Bad language disdain;
    God's name hold in reverence,
    Nor take it in vain;
    Be thoughtful and earnest,
    Kindhearted and true;
    Look ever to Jesus,
    He'll carry you through.
  4. To him that o'ercometh,
    God giveth a crown;
    Thro' faith we will conquer.
    Though often cast down;
    He who is our Saviour,
    Our strength will renew;
    Look ever to Jesus,
    He'll carry you through.
